FURNITURE AND DECOR
I've noticed over the last few years, that many of my clients just need affirmation that they are making the correct decision. Large redesigns are an investment and a little push and guidance in the right the direction can make all the difference. Two of my good friends decided to redecorate their living room, and they came to me with a question about the new sectional they wanted to purchase. Because I'm such a good designer friend, I completely took over the design plan.
Working with friends can be tricky in some instances, but I really enjoyed designing and shopping with them. They trusted my judgement most of the time, and it made for a relaxed and easy going process. It was really nice to have the power to veto a design decision just because it’s dumb, and the client still loves me the next day…I think.
The space is relaxed and casual, and it's perfect for entertaining their friends and family. The room has layers of white and gray with accents of navy and a bold red. I originally wanted a more muted palette, but the bright color makes for an interesting contrast to the subdued furnishings, so it all worked out in the end.
The homeowners commissioned a custom bar to store a wine refrigerator and all of their glassware. The bar is topped with reclaimed wood and a large colorful abstract painting. Pair that with a cowhide rug and it’s a festive and fun area. My favorite piece in the room is an alligator print that adds playfulness to the seating area, and gives a nod to the home’s Louisiana location.
I think the final design is a good representation of the couple’s tastes and personalities, and their living room is somewhere they can relax and feel comfortable. I hope that I was able to help them sort and manage the design process, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!
