BEDROOM DESIGN & DECOR
My bedroom is slowly coming together. I started a redesign of my master bedroom over a month ago, and even though it is at the bottom of my priority list, some decisions are being made. The online sales going on this past week helped to solidify some of my selections. Major pieces have been ordered and installed, but it’s not quite done yet.
I went over some of the narrowed down choices for the nightstand in my last post, and by the hardest I finally pulled the trigger on this guy. He was recently delivered and it was a great choice. Good size, nice color, and a solid piece. Since it’s an apartment, I wanted to keep the large furniture pretty neutral and acquire some staple pieces that can be used in a future home. I like that I can switch out the rug and artwork and completely change the look of the room.
The space will also be home to a dressing vanity and mirror. I miss my huge closet and vanity from the old house, so giving myself a little area to put on makeup and store my stuff is a must. Those all in one vanity pieces are not very interesting and the style options are slim, so I’m on the hunt for a desk, bench, and wall mirror combo. I’m thinking white in color or maybe walnut. The more storage the better, but I’m planning on getting a small bin or basket to help store my hair tools.
I ordered this mirror from Anthropologie on Black Friday and utilized a little discount making the price tag a little easier to swallow. I looked at other mirror options, but I always came back to this one so it made the choice simple. In addition to the furniture, my vanity will need some accessories. I picked up this faux shagreen tray that I absolutely love. It pulls the blue from the rug and will be a nice spot to place my perfume bottles. I also ordered this brass pencil holder to hold and organize my makeup brushes. For my vanity seating, I’ve got my eye on this bench but I’m not happy with the price. I saw it in person and it is the perfect pale pink. If it doesn’t go on sale soon, I’m going to have to look for another option.
I’m hooked on my new bedding. When I make the bed, I tuck the sheets and comforter under the mattress, and it feels as if I’m sleeping in a hotel bed. I thought I would miss the big fluffy duvet, but that hasn’t been the case. The quilt is surprisingly warm, and I’m currently looking for a throw for the end of the bed. I bought one, but I’m planning on returning it and looking for something a little softer and larger. I have my heart set on plaid, and below are some of the options I’m considering. I’m not really in love with any of them, and may wait for something better to come along.
A new lamp was also delivered for the chair and opposite side of the bed. I found a brass floor lamp with marble bands, and it coordinates nicely with this already purchased table lamp. It comes in a few colors and sizes. If you are looking for an affordable and well made lamp these are great.
I’m hoping to have everything sorted by the end of the year. As usual, I’m sure I will be held up with artwork. I love so many pieces that it’s hard for me to commit to one or two. I wish I had a collection of artwork that I could rotate in and out as I see fit. Even though it’s not done, the room is already starting to feel better. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.
