FAVORITE BRANDS | NEW HOME DECOR
While on vacation, I discovered my favorite stores had released new collections at the start of the year. Scrolling through the New Arrivals section is very exciting for someone who sources and exhausts these brands’ inventory on the regular. I could even be heard to gasp as new items were revealed. So what are the standouts at the most popular and affordable home furnishing stores this season? Keep scrolling to see a few of my picks.
In my opinion, CB2 gets progressively better with each season. They carry items in rich materials, modern shapes, and the brand seems more grown-up in this latest offering. The walnut table on brass legs would be perfect for a small breakfast nook, and I think this daybed is so stylish in rugged leather. I like to use daybeds in my designs; I think they are a furniture piece that often gets overlooked. They come in sleek and interesting silhouettes, and I’m more willing to take risks with a daybed than with a sofa. I can see myself specifying the chair for a desk, dining table, or vanity seat. I like the deep color and perfect tufts on the shiny base. I’m considering buying it for myself. It’s not easy to find a contemporary wall clock that is affordable and good looking. This one is both, and I can get on board with the rose gold rim. It actually looks very similar to my favorite Fossil watch.
Who would believe, Pottery Barn is leaning a little contemporary this season. Warm colors, midcentury influences, and simple shapes are up for grabs. I really like the indigo and batik pillow covers. This little chair all done up in leather keeps calling my name. I’m so drawn to leather in all colors these days. I need to add a few pieces to my home. In keeping with the campaign style furniture trend, they have a line dedicated to the cause. I like this bright white and silver coffee table the best. The subtle rug has a small-scale geometric pattern that is pleasing to my eyes. A nice change from the bold oversized patterns that have flooded the market.
Ahhh my go to furniture store. I specify and buy more things at West Elm than anywhere else. It just always seems to fit my aesthetic and budgetary needs. There are so many things that I love in their new collection, it was hard to narrow it down to just four. Brass inlay, raw wood dresser…I’ll take two. Actually, I would love to install a sink on top and use it as a bathroom vanity. The faux shagreen lamp was the piece that produced a gasp. That pale green with a subtle texture and white edging was apparently everything I've ever needed in a lamp. Also, this simple delicate frame mirror(again in rose gold) with its rounded corners feels feminine and flirty. Lastly, blush is so popular right now and paired with the brass legs, curving back, and pretty pleats makes this chair a winner in my book.
The final store is Crate and Barrel, a good source for classic pieces with great quality. Artist Teil Duncan can do no wrong, and I’m coveting this large framed print. So relaxed and cool. If you’ve got a larger budget this marble baker’s rack is very nice. I’ve been a long time fan of the island, and this is the newest item to the French Kitchen line. This sleek painted brass chandelier would look great as a sculptural fixture to light your entry or dining table. I thought this curvilinear ottoman was an interesting find on Crate and Barrel’s site. I am especially interested in the blue base/gray (or navy) upholstery combo. It’s a look that would usually require a custom paint job.
That wraps up my favorite pieces from four popular home furnishings brands. I'm excited to have some new items to pull for my upcoming design projects. Any new pieces, stores, or artists catching your eye lately?
