DESIGN + TRAVEL
Over the past year and a half all of my efforts have been devoted to achieving one goal, to spend most of 2015 traveling to far-flung destinations and having control over my daily activities and time. Through hard work, lots of planning, saving, and some sacrifices I was able to leave mid-January for the first leg of my travels.
Since travel and design are such huge parts of my life, combining the two just made sense. I plan to continue my interior design work remotely while traveling slowly; getting tiny glimpses into the places I visit. I spent lots of time daydreaming about what this year would bring, but I always knew that I wanted to share my travel experiences (past and present) with anyone who would listen.
On this site you can expect reviews of spaces, highlights of attractions, design and travel inspiration, and anything else my little head can think of as this project unfolds. I want it to be a place where I can express my ideas and experiences, but above all else, I want to share a positive appreciation for other cultures and to foster a desire to create and travel.
Where have I been since January? I started my journey in Thailand and have made my way through Southeast Asia. For the most part, I pick a city that interests me, and I stick around for two to four weeks working and sightseeing. Traveling slowly limits the number of places I visit, but allows me to get into a sort of routine with my work.
With just a couple of weeks left before I head home for my first visit, these last few months have pushed me out of my comfort zone, taught me how to relax, and made me realize how little I need to survive and be happy. I am looking forward to this next year of travel, meeting new friends, and exploring exciting avenues for my design work.
