TRAVEL INSPIRED BEDROOM DESIGN
Costa Rica has so much to offer in terms of outdoor activities and natural beauty that it’s no wonder it’s a top tourist destination. I was lucky enough to travel around the country where I surfed for the first time, saw a few sloths, and had one of the most memorable and embarrassing events of my life. A story for another day…
This inspiration photo was captured on a quick trip to Tamarindo towards the end of my time in Costa Rica. It was a perfect calm ending to a bumpy beginning, and it’s one of my favorites from the trip.
I especially love the orange and blue colors paired with grayish purple. It’s not a color combo I use often in interiors, and I thought it would be fun to pull a space together based on this lovely sunset. Costa Rica has such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere; it made sense to translate its colors and textures into a beachy bedroom design.
The furniture is a mixture of neutrals with a rug that captures and pulls together the colors from the photo. The rug pattern is geometric and simple, adding enough interest to keep the space from being a bit blah. Incorporating the metal drum, and glass lighting give texture to the space and are similar in feeling to the light reflecting off the water.
