CAFE PHOTO ROUNDUP
Needing constant access to the Internet has led me to hunt down the most comfortable cafes around Southeast Asia. Luckily, cafes catering to tourists are on every corner and are easy to find without much effort.
I’m particular about what I look for in a workspace, and once I find the perfect spot I tend to go back often. Free and fast Internet is a must, comfortable chairs, seating away from the sun (preferably with aircon), good coffee, and friendly workers.
It usually takes about three visits before the staff start to notice me. My favorite moment is when a local employee recognizes me from previous visits. They light up when I enter, go out of their way to help, start to ask questions, and become interested in my life. The conversation is usually limited to our combined language skills, which for me is non-existent, but still enjoyable.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time working in cafes, and I have my favorites. Below is a roundup of cafés from my Instagram feed during the last few months of travel in Southeast Asia. I enjoy looking for design inspiration in these spaces and it's interesting how each business brands itself.
