4 CITIES, 3 GIRLS
I stay in AirBNB apartments often, actually I have spent a good chunk of this year living in AirBNBs. The site is a huge resource for inexpensive lodging while I travel, but it really shows its worth when traveling with three or more people. Allowing you to rent out a whole apartment, complete with kitchen, for way less than a typical hotel in the same location.
While in France, we exclusively stayed in apartments listed on AirBNB. I look for good location and fast Wi-Fi in my listing of choice, but often they come with other perks. Below are the four apartments we stayed in during our time in France, and what we like and didn’t like in each.
PARIS Hotels in Paris are notoriously expensive, and with so many options it can soon get overwhelming. We decided to stay in the 1st Arrondissement in order to be close to many of the attractions we wanted to visit. The one bedroom was tucked at the end of a cute street with a few boutiques, just down the street from the Louvre. It was an older apartment with some noticeable aging, but it was the perfect location and overall a great choice. The elevator was an added bonus since we were on the 6th floor.
I did have issues with the outlets. My laptop would only charge part of the time. It was a gamble every time I plugged into a socket. If you want to see me lose my mind, watch me troubleshoot why my laptop (lifeline) won't charge. I’m sure it was just old wiring, but my fingers were crossed every time I plugged in a device.
TOURS After a thorough walk-thru with the sweetest man (Father of the owner), we quickly made Tours our home for a few days. In my option this was my most comfortable stay. It was cozy, lots of space, good internet, decent bathroom, and great location. Overall a great apartment in a lovely small town. I could have stayed here for a lot longer.
AVIGNON Our apartment in Avignon was so close to everything, good restaurants, great bars, and the top tourist attractions. We also enjoyed one night cooking and drinking in our apartment, something I never get a chance to do when I’m solo. It wins the award for best neighbor. When our taxi never showed, the guy next door gave directions to the dispatcher to help up make our train on time.
NICE While our apartment in Nice had the most fantastic view, the best-designed interiors, and the biggest bathroom, it will be remembered for two things. One the city was incredibly hot and we baked while in the apartment, and the ungodly amount of stairs we had to climb to get there. Since the heat was intense, we slept with the windows open, and the street noise was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Granted, I can sleep through anything but the other girls struggled.
